Summary
This command is used to insert a tab at the current cursor position, within the current document.
Access
Access to this command is made using the Tab keyboard shortcut only.
Use
Simply position the cursor where you wish the tab to be inserted and launch the command.
Tips
- For standard tabbing, the number of characters involved in the tab is determined by the entry in the Tab Stops field, on the Text Editors - General page of the Preferences dialog. The default entry in this field is 4 - therefore this command will tab forwards four characters at a time.
- For smart tabbing - with the Smart tab option enabled on the the Text Editors - General page of the Preferences dialog - this command will tab forwards on the current line, in keeping with the start of new words on the previous line.
