The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:
Extend Selection Column to Beginning of Line
Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to extend a column selection to the beginning of the current line, from the current cursor position.
Access
Access to this command is made using the Alt+Shift+Home keyboard shortcut only.
Use
Simply position the cursor at the required location in the document and launch the command. The column selection will include all characters to the left of the original cursor position, up to the beginning of the line.
Tips
- You can control column selection specifically by using Alt+Click-and-Drag.
- If the Smart 'Home' key option is enabled, on the Text Editors - General page of the Preferences dialog, then using this command for the first time will extend column selection to the first non-space character in the current line. With the next Alt+Shift+Home key press, selection will extend to the beginning of the line, and so on. This Home key behaviour matches that of the Microsoft™ Visual Studio™ product. Disable this option and the Alt+Shift+Home key will always extend selection to the beginning of the current line.
- Column selection is disabled if word wrapping is enabled.
