Browse Objects
Applied Parameters: Objects=Component,Net
Summary
This command is used to access the Board Insight pop-up, listing all components and/or net objects currently under the cursor. This pop-up is part of the wider Board Insight system - a configurable system of features that give you complete control over viewing and working with your PCB design.
Access
This command can be accessed from the PCB Editor by:
- Choosing the Tools » Browse Objects command from the main menus.
- Using the Shift+X keyboard shortcut.
Use
After launching the command, the Board Insight pop-up will appear. The pop-up includes a list of all components and/or nets under the cursor, and a graphical display of the object currently chosen in the list. From the list you can edit, select or zoom on any of the objects. The list is hierarchical allowing you, for example, to drill down for complete detail on the primitive objects associated with the higher-level component or net.
Tips
- As the pop-up acts on objects under the cursor, it is advised to access the command using its shortcut.
- Alternatively, use the full Board Insight panel. This provides the same information as the pop-up view (since the pop-up is a trimmed view of the panel), but requires no keystrokes to access or update its contents. The panel allows you to view in more detail what is in under the cursor. When you hover the cursor over component and/or net, they will be loaded into the panel. Once the information is in the panel it will remain until the cursor is paused in a new location.
