In ActiveBOM, when the design includes unmanaged components, these components are deemed to be the same when the parameters enabled in the Component Grouping dialog have the same values. The components are grouped when the BomDoc is set to either the Base or the Consolidated view mode.

To open the dialog, click   associated to Component Grouping in the BOM Items region of the ActiveBOM Properties panel.

• Parameter Name - column of currently available parameters that can be used for grouping.
• Check - this column displays a checkbox for each available parameter. Only the checked parameters are used to group components.
• Defaults - click this button to restore the dialog to installation defaults.
• Add - click to add an additional parameter. After clicking the button, the text Select parameter will appear in the list. Double-click on the text to display a list of all parameters detected across all current BOM Items then select the required parameter from the list.
