Summary
The Component type dialog is used to specify the ComponentType
parameter associated with a Managed Component. The parameter facilitates both the search and categorization of components in multiple locations through the design software.
Access
The dialog is accessed in the following ways:
- From the Components panel: Right click on a component entry in the list and select Operations » Change Component Type from the context menu.
- From the Explorer panel: Right click on a component entry Revision and select Operations » Change Component Type from the context menu.
- From the Manufacturer Part Search panel: When acquiring a selected component to the connected managed content server (Acquire selected from the right-click menu) the Component type dialog automatically opens so an appropriate Component Type may be selected. The component is then opened in the Single Component Editor, prior to its release to the server.
- From the Single Component Editor: When a component is open in the editor, its Component Type setting is specified in the Type drop-down menu under the Advanced Settings options. Select the associated button to open the Data Management - Component Types page of the Preferences dialog to manage the Component Types list.
- From the Component Template Editor: In the
ComponentType
parameter entry in the editor’s Parameters list, click in the Default Value field to access and click the button.
