Summary
The Designator Annotation dialog allows the user to annotate the designator of physical components in a multi-channel or varied design.
Access
Perform the following steps to access this dialog:
- Compile a project.
- Switch from the Editor tab to a compiled tab in tab options at the bottom of the schematic editor.
- Click the designator of any component.
Options/Controls
- Name
- <Name> – a non-editable field that is populated with component Designator information that depends on the chosen naming scheme.
- Visible – when this option is enabled, the designator is displayed.
- Lock – when this option is enabled, this designator cannot be reassigned during annotation.
- <Name> – a non-editable field that is populated with component Designator information that depends on the chosen naming scheme.
- Value
- <Value> – a non-editable field that is populated based on the information for the component. The information presented will depend on the chosen naming scheme.
- Visible – when this option is enabled, the value is displayed (non-editable).
- Lock – when this option is enabled, this value cannot be reassigned during annotation (non-editable).
- <Value> – a non-editable field that is populated based on the information for the component. The information presented will depend on the chosen naming scheme.
- Annotation (will be saved in <filename>)
- Annotate – check this option to enable the following controls:
- Lock Physical Designator – select this option to specify use of a custom physical designator, which is entered in the associated text box. This is the also option that is set when graphically editing a designator in a compiled document view.
- Apply Naming Scheme – select this option to access the following controls to generate a designator using a specified naming scheme. Use the Annotate Options button to access the Board Level Annotation Options dialog in which you can choose a predefined naming scheme or specify a custom naming scheme. The Physical Designator will be generated based on the logical designator information and the specified naming scheme.
- Annotate Options – click to access the Board Level Annotation Options dialog to choose a predefined naming scheme or specify a custom naming scheme.
- Prefix – a non-editable field that is populated based on the logical designator information for the component. The information presented will depend on the chosen naming scheme.
- Global Index – a non-editable field that is populated based on the logical designator information for the component. The information presented will depend on the chosen naming scheme.
- Physical Designator – a non-editable field that shows the calculated physical designator based on the chosen naming scheme that will be assigned when you click OK.
