ShelvePolygons

Applied Parameters: Shelve=True

Summary

This command is used to shelve all currently displayed polygon pours in the active PCB document. The act of shelving temporarily hides the polygon pours from the editor but retains them in the PCB database (i.e. they are not destroyed and can be restored at any time). This allows changes to the board layout to be made both with visual ease, and without the impact on performance - both editing and DRC - that visual polygon pours can bring.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by choosing the Tools » Polygon Pours » Shelve n Polygon(s) command from the main menus (where n is the number of unshelved polygon pours that have been detected in the design).

Use

After launching the command, all detected polygon pours (that are currently not shelved) are shelved - hidden from the workspace.

Tips

1. Polygon pours can also be shelved and restored (unshelved) through use of the Polygon Pour Manager dialog.

The act of shelving temporarily hides the polygon pours from the editor but retains them in the PCB database (i.e. they are not destroyed and can be restored at any time). This allows changes to the board layout to be made both with visual ease, and without the impact on performance - both editing and DRC - that visual polygon pours can bring.

Access

With the required polygon pours selected in the workspace, this command is accessed from the PCB Editor by right-clicking over a polygon pour in the selection and choosing the Polygon Actions » Shelve Selected command from the context menu.

Use

After launching the command, all selected polygon pours are shelved - hidden from the workspace.

The act of shelving temporarily hides the polygon pours from the editor, but retains them in the PCB database (i.e. they are not destroyed, and can be restored at any time). This allows changes to the board layout to be made both with visual ease, and without the impact on performance - both editing and DRC - that visual polygon pours can bring.

Access

This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by choosing the Tools » Polygon Pours » Restore n Shelved Polygon(s) command from the main menus (where n is the number of shelved polygon pours that have been detected in the design).

Use

After launching the command, all detected polygon pours (that are currently shelved) are restored (unshelved) - made visible again in the workspace.

All restored polygons are treated as though they have been modified. If the Repour Polygons After Modification option is enabled on the PCB Editor - General page of the Preferences dialog, the polygon pours, and all their dependents, will be automatically repoured. If this option is disabled, the restored polygon pours will not be repoured.

Tips

1. Polygon pours can also be shelved and restored (unshelved) through use of the Polygon Pour Manager dialog. Note that this command restores (unshelves) all polygon pours, while the Polygon Pour Manager dialog allows you to selectively unshelve required polygon pours, therefore affording you greater control.
2. A modified polygon pour is one that has been changed in some way but has not yet been repoured. Its IsModified property - which can be seen from the PCB List panel for a selected polygon pour - is enabled (True).
