The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:
Board Information
Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to provide the designer with a summary of key information pertaining to the active board, including board dimensions and primitive counts, the number of components used, and the number of nets loaded. A detailed report can also be configured and generated.
Access
This command is accessed from the PCB Editor by choosing the Reports » Board Information command, from the main menus.
Use
After launching the command, the PCB Information dialog will appear. This dialog includes information across the following three tabs:
- General - this tab includes a tally of each primitive type used in the design, the dimensions of the board (based on the most distant primitives in the workspace), the total number of pad and via holes/pad slot holes/pad square holes, and the number of DRC violations on the board.
- Components - this tab gives a summary of the total number of components that exist in the design and lists them by designator. A further breakdown of how many of these reside on the top and bottom layers respectively is also given.
- Nets - this tab lists all currently loaded nets, by name, and includes a tally of nets loaded. Internal power plane information can also be accessed from this tab.
A report of the board information can be configured and generated from the dialog. This HTML-based report will be generated (Board Information - <PCBDocumentName>.html) in the same folder as the PCB design document, and will automatically be opened as the active document.
