The Ellipse dialog

Summary

This dialog provides controls to specify the properties of an Ellipse object. An ellipse is a non-electrical drawing primitive that can be placed on a schematic sheet and can be filled or unfilled.

For information on how a placed ellipse object can be modified graphically directly in the workspace, see Graphical Editing.

Access

The Ellipse dialog can be accessed during placement by pressing the Tab key.

After placement, the dialog can be accessed in one of the following ways:

  • Double-click on the placed ellipse object.
  • Place the cursor over the ellipse object, right-click then choose Properties from the context menu.

Options/Controls

  • Border Width - the width of the border used to draw the outline of the elliptical shape. Available widths are: Smallest, Small, Medium, and Large.
  • X-Radius - the radius of the ellipse in the horizontal plane (Y = 0) measured from its center point to the center of the intersecting border outline.
  • Y-Radius - the radius of the ellipse in the vertical plane (X = 0) measured from its center point to the center of the intersecting border outline.
  • Border Color - click the color sample to change the color used for the ellipse's outline using the standard Choose Color dialog.
  • Fill Color - click the color sample to change the fill color for the ellipse using the standard Choose Color dialog. The Draw Solid option must be enabled for the ellipse to be filled.
  • Draw Solid - if this option is enabled, the ellipse is filled with the color set in the Fill Color field. If this option is disabled, the ellipse is drawn in outline only.
  • Transparent - enable this option to allow objects placed beneath the ellipse to be shown in the workspace.
  • Location X/Y - the current X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) coordinates for the center point of the ellipse. Edit these values to change the position of the ellipse in the horizontal and/or vertical planes respectively.
  • Locked - enable this option to protect the ellipse from being edited graphically.
An object that has its Locked property enabled cannot be selected or graphically edited. Double-click on the locked object directly then disable the Locked property to graphically edit the object.
