Summary

The Part Choices dialog allows you to search, add or remove company-ratified design components for a specified component item.

Access

The dialog is accessed by performing the following steps:

  1. In the Explorer panel, select the Supply Chain view.
  2. In the Solutions section of the Explorer panel, click the button then select Create Part Choice List (if the component item has never had any part choices made for it) or Edit Part Choice List (if the component item already has an associated part choice list item).

Options/Controls

Part Search

In this region, you can browse the supported (and enabled) Supplier's web databases for the required part(s). 

  • Keywords - enter the desired search terms in the text box. Click the  button to access a drop-down menu from where you can set up desired search filters.
    • Show Results Per Supplier - specify how many results to be shown for each supplier. The default value is 10.
    • In Stock - enable to search only for parts that are in stock.
    • Lead Free - enable to search only for lead free parts.
    • RoHS Compliant - enable to search only for RoHS-compliant parts.
  • Search - click to begin the search. Search results based on the entered keywords and any applied filters will be displayed.
  • Search results list - the resulting information can be sorted by any column as required. Browse through multiple pages of results using the arrow buttons located on the left side below the displayed results.
  • Currency - use the drop-down to select the desired currency. Your selection is reflected in the Unit Price column of the upper pane and under Pricing in the lower pane.
  • Order Quantity - use to specify how many units you need. You can use the arrows to increase or decrease the quantity or type directly in the text box. Order pricing may change depending on supplier. Many suppliers offer discounts for bulk orders. For example, an item might discount at 10 items with further discounts for 25, 50, and 100 items. Pricing and bulk discounts, when applicable, vary between suppliers.
  • Parameters - lists specific information for the selected part including Parameters (specific part data such as dimensions, voltage, packaging, etc.,), Documents (click to access a document with more detailed manufacturer information), Pricing (includes any discounts provided by the manufacturer), and Stock (part availability).

Manufacturer Part Choices

Once you locate a part that meets the engineering criteria for the design component by scrolling through the resulting list, click  to the immediate right of the search results. The selected part will be added to the Manufacturer Part Choices region of the dialog. This is the Part Choice List that will be stored in the next revision of the Part Choice List Item upon clicking OK.

  • Part List - lists the Manufacturer and Part No of all parts.
  • Remove - click to removed the selected part choice.
