Scopes Library

Now reading version 4. For the latest, read: Scopes Library for version 5

This documentation page references Altium NEXUS/NEXUS Client (part of the deployed NEXUS solution), which has been discontinued. All your PCB design, data management and collaboration needs can now be delivered by Altium Designer and a connected Altium 365 Workspace. Check out the FAQs page for more information.

Summary

The Scopes Library dialog allows you to store query-based object matching scopes. custom scopes can be imported, managed and exported for reuse in other custom constraint rules.

Access

The dialog is accessed from the Constraints Editor in the following ways:

  • Click the Edit Library button in the Scopes Library region of the Advanced constraints options mode of the Properties panel.
  • Click  in the Object Match column then select Export to Library.

Options/Controls

The key options are described below.

  • Scope - lists all the scopes that have been defined.
  • Expression - displays the expression defined for the associated scope.
  •  - opens the Query Helper dialog, which helps write search expressions.
  •  - opens the Query Builder dialog, which helps create a query.
  • Update - use to update the rule in the Constraints Editor. This option is only available and accessible if a change has been made.
  • Import - use to import the selected scope to the Constraints Editor. This option is only available and accessible if a scope is selected in the dialog that is not already in the Constraints Editor..

Tip

The information in the Scopes Library can be exported as a custom scope XML file, which can then be used to populate the Scope Library of another Altium NEXUS installation.
