Summary

The Altium Developer – General page of the Preferences dialog is used to check or define the system paths to the Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) used for Extension software development.

The settings allow Altium Designer to launch the appropriate IDE for an Extension project that has been opened or created in the Extension Developer interface. Normally, the paths entries are automatically populated for any installed IDEs.

Access

The Altium Developer – General page is part of the main Preferences dialog (DXP » Preferences) and is accessed by clicking the General entry under the Altium Developer folder, in the left hand pane of the dialog.

Options/Controls

IDE Path

  • Delphi 2010/XE2/XE3 path - Click the folder icon to open the file browser dialog, where the target Delphi executable can be specified. For Delphi, the filename filter is set to bds.exe.
  • Visual Studio 2010/2012 path - Click the folder icon to open the file browser dialog, where the target Visual Studio executable can be specified. For Visual Studio, the filename filter is set to devenv.exe.
