Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to store the selected waveform in an ASCII text file.
Access
This command is accessed from the SimData Editor by choosing the Tools » Store Waveform command from the main menus.
Use
First, ensure that the waveform you wish to store, is selected in the Waveform Analysis window. This is achieved by clicking on the waveform name (a selected waveform will become bolder in color and have a dot to the left of its name).
Launch the command - the Store Selected Waveform dialog will appear. Use the dialog to choose where, and under what name, you wish to save the stored waveform file. By default, the file takes the name of the waveform itself (WaveformName.wdf).
Tips
- The waveform is stored as a set of data points, with each point being represented by an XY value pair.
- When a waveform is selected, filtering is applied, using the name of the waveform as the scope. All other waveforms in the active chart with different names will be masked (becoming dimmed). The extent of the masking - how dimmed the non-selected waveforms become - can be controlled through the use of the Mask Level slider bar, accessed by clicking the Mask Level button, located at the bottom-right of the Waveform Analysis window. If more than one waveform of the same name exists in the active chart, the non-selected instances will remain fully visible.
- A stored waveform can be recalled at any time. Recalling a stored waveform will add it to the list of possible source simulation data waveforms for the active chart (displayed in the Source Data dialog (Chart » Source Data) and the Source Data region of the Sim Data panel). Once available in this list, the waveform can then be added back into the required plot of the active chart.
- Storing a waveform with the same name as a .wdf file that already exists, will cause the existing file to be overwritten without warning.
