The following pre-packaged resource, derived from this base command, is available:
Copy Component
Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to copy the selected component definition(s) from the active Component Library document, to the clipboard.
Access
With the required component definition(s) selected, this command can be accessed from the Component Library Editor, when configured in Batch Editor mode, by:
- Choosing the Edit » Copy Component command from the main menus.
- Right-clicking over a component definition in the selection, and choosing the Copy Component command from the context menu.
- Using the Shift+Ctrl+C keyboard shortcut.
If the Component Library Editor is currently in Single Component Editor mode, switch to the Batch Editor mode using the Tools » Switch to Batch Editor command.
Use
First, select the component definition(s) you wish to copy. After launching the command, the selection will be copied to the clipboard.
Tips
- Copy data into an external spreadsheet application, from where changes can be made as required using the cell editing power that only a spreadsheet editor can bring. Then paste the altered data back into the Component Library file – the most expedient way to build component definitions.
-
To quickly duplicate a single component definition, use the Clone Component command.
