Applied Parameters: SmartUnionKind = LayerStackTable
Summary
This command is used to place a Layer Stack Table object onto the active document. A Layer Stack Table is a tabular graphic object that documents the layers, materials, thicknesses, and dielectric constants implemented in the current PCB design as defined in the Layer Stack Manager. It is placed and positioned alongside the board design in the workspace, and also includes a graphical key and option map that shows the layer stack used in each region of the board.
Access
This command is accessed from the PCB Editor when configured in 2D Layout Mode by choosing the Place » Layer Stack Table command from the main menus.
The current viewing mode for the PCB document can be changed using the corresponding commands from the main View menu. To switch to 2D Layout Mode, use the command of the same name or use the 2 keyboard shortcut.
Use
First, ensure that the board layer on which you would like the table placed is the active layer in the design workspace. This is normally one of the mechanical layers and can be changed later.
After launching the command, a layer stack table will appear attached to the cursor. Position the table in a suitable location outside the board then click or press Enter to place it. Continue placing additional layer stack tables or right-click or press Esc to exit placement mode.
Press the
Tab key to access the
Properties panel, from where properties for the layer stack table can be changed on-the-fly. Pressing
Tab pauses placement, allowing you to interact with the panel (or other area of the software) directly. To resume, click the pause symbol that appears over the workspace, or press
Esc.
Tips
- Note the Board Map that appears below the table. This is an outline of the board showing how the various layer stacks are assigned to regions of the board. Note also the graphic pattern key in the table and the board map. The board map can be scaled or hidden if required.
- The table reflects the layer configurations defined through the Layer Stack Manager and is an important documentation asset for designs with a complex layer stack structure, such as a rigid-flex design.
