Summary
This command is used to import HPGL formatted files into the current document. HPGL is the Hewlett Packard Graphics Language - a vector based language that turns your HP printer into a plotter.
Access
This command can be accessed from the CAMtastic Editor by:
- Choosing the File » Import » HPGL/HPGL2 command from the main menus.
- Clicking the button, on the Import/Export Tools drop-down () of the Utilities toolbar.
Use
After launching the command, the Select Hpgl/Hpgl2 File(s) dialog will appear. Use the dialog to locate and open the HPGL file(s) required.
After clicking Open, the Import HPGL/HPGL2 dialog will appear. Use this dialog to define the pen separation option required (if any) and a value for the pen width.
After defining the import options, click OK to proceed with the import. The imported data will appear on a new layer, based on the name of the imported file itself, and will be added to the layers list (and made the current layer) in the CAMtastic panel.
Tips
- If pen separation is necessary, the CAMtastic Editor can use Layers (placing each pen on a separate layer) or Apertures (assigning each pen to a separate Dcode).
- The HPGL format is a useful intermediary for importing complex fonts from AutoCAD.
