Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to cross probe from a chosen BOM Item in the current ActiveBOM document (*.BomDoc
) and highlighting its corresponding counterpart on the schematic document. Cross-probing is a powerful searching tool to help locate objects in other editors by selecting the object in the current editor. If the project PCB is currently open, the PCB component will also be cross probed to.
Access
This command can be accessed in ActiveBOM by:
- Choosing the Tools » Cross Probe command from the main menus.
- Right-clicking on the BOM Item and selecting Cross Probe » <ComponentDesignator TargetSchematic> from the context menu.
Use
Cross probing is available when a BOM Item is selected in the ActiveBOM component grid. After selecting a component and launching the command, the target schematic will automatically open, and the component highlighted. If the project PCB is currently open, the PCB component will also be highlighted.
The cross-probed objects on the target document will be displayed in accordance with the Highlight Methods defined on the System - Navigation page of the Preferences dialog.
During Cross Probing, it is more efficient to have the BomDoc (source) and schematic (target) documents displayed side-by-side, either by splitting the main design window, or opening the schematic in a new window. Commands for both of these are available in the document tab right-click menu.
