KB: How-To Determine the entitled version of Altium Designer for a license
Solution Details
Overview
An Altium Designer license's subscription end date determines which versions of the software the license is entitled for use with. A license's subscription end date can be determined through the Company Dashboard. The entitled version can then be determined from the Altium website Downloads page.
Caveat - Perpetual versus Time-Based Licenses
This solution is only applicable to Perpetual licenses. All Altium Designer licenses have two end dates associated with them: License End Date; and, Subscription End Date. Perpetual licenses, which are now discontinued, have no License End Date but do have a Subscription End Date - therefore perpetual licenses allow for the license to be used with an entitled version on a perpetual basis. Time-Based licenses, have both a License End Date and a Subscription End Date, and these should both be the same - therefore when a time-based license subscription expires the license itself expires and can no longer be used.
Determining the Subscription End Date
The subscription end date for all license types: Standalone; and Private Server; and On-Demand; can be determined through the Company Dashboard. The license information is available from the Licenses page:
- in a web-browser;
- go to the Altium website home page "altium.com";
- in the upper-right of the page click Sign In;
- then in the Sign In form enter your Altium Username (Email) and Password and click the [Sign In] button;
- at the upper-right of the page click the User button and from the dropdown list select Company Dashboard;
- if you are prompted with an Access Denied message continue by clicking the [Overview] button in the View Admins & Available Licenses section, scroll down and review the Available Licenses and their subscription end date which is listed as Renews On Date;
- otherwise the default Company Dashboard page is the Licenses page, review the available licenses and their subscription end date which is listed as Renews On Date.

Determining the Entitled Version
The entitled version of Altium Designer can be determined at the Altium website Downloads page:
- in a web-browser;
- go to the Altium website home page "altium.com";
- at the top of the page click the banner tab for Resources & Support, and at the left-hand side of the dropdown menu select Downloads;
- alternatively go directly to the Downloads page using address "altium.com/products/downloads";
- the page will contain a list of sections for all Altium product downloads;
- the first section should be for Altium Designer;
- at the right-hand side of the Altium Designer section use the version selection dropdown to select from a list of available versions;
- when a version is selected that build's Release Date will be given;
- locate a version with a release date that is before the subscription end date.
Download, Installation, and Licensing
Once the entitled version is determined, click the Online Installer (Download) link on the Downloads page to download a copy of the installer, run and configure the installer, and the installer will then download and install the entitled version, finally license the installation.
