KB: How do I enable pin mapping

Solution Details

If Pin Mapping has not enabled by the workspace administrator, and a user attempts to configure the component pin mapping capabilities, they will receive an error message "Editing has been disabled by the server administrator".

Figure 1 shows the Edit Pin Mapping error message.

To be able to enable the components’ pin mapping setting the user needs to enable the setting from the workspace via a web browser. Figure 2 shows the location where the setting can be found.

Note: Custom pin-to-pad mapping is not backward compatible. If this feature is used for your components, design corruption can result when opening and working with designs using those components, in a version of the software earlier than Altium Designer 21.

Please make sure that users sign out and sign in again from the workspace, within the Altium Designer application, to synchronize the pin mapping setting. Figure 3 shows how to sign out from the workspace within Altium Designer.
