Summary

This dialog enables you to merge component types.

Access

The Merging dialog is accessed from the Data Management - Component Types page of the Preferences dialog by:

  • Selecting one or more component types, then right-clicking and choosing Merge from the menu.
  • Selecting one or more component types, the using the Ctrl+M shortcut key.
As the dialog states, the merging action cannot be undone so use caution before clicking the Merge button in the dialog.

Options/Controls 

  • Merge to  - Use this drop-down to choose the component type you wish to merge with the component type(s) you've selected. By default, the first selected component type will be the target component type.
    • If one component type was selected, use the Merge to drop-down to select the desired target component type.
    • If several component types were selected (using Shift+Ctrl) including the target component type, use the Merge to drop-down to select the target type from the previously selected types.

Once successfully merged, the previous component types that were merged to another will be listed under the Template column of the Data Management - Component Types dialog. The contents featured in the Folder column, which usually denote the name of the original component type, of the Data Management - Component Types dialog will be replaced with an asterisk (*) to emulate the merge. The contents within the Template and Folder columns are read-only.
