Applied Parameters: None
Summary
This command is used to create a new component footprint within the current PCB Library document, in a semi-automated way, by using the PCB Component Wizard.
Access
This command is accessed from the PCB Library Editor by:
- Choosing the Tools » Component Wizard command, from the main menus.
- Right-clicking in the workspace and choosing the Tools » Component Wizard command from the context menu.
Use
After launching the command, the PCB Component Wizard appears. Follow the Wizard's intuitive pages to set up the particular component footprint as required.
To manually create the component footprint without the aid of the Wizard, click
Cancel. A new component footprint will be created and an empty workspace will be opened in the main design window. A default name will be given to the new component in the
Components list of the
PCB Library panel (
PCBCOMPONENT_1) - use the
Component Properties command (from the main
Tools menu or from the right-click menu in the panel) to launch the
PCB Library Component dialog, from where you can change this name as required.
Tips
- A new blank component can also be added to the library by using the New Blank Component command.
- If your components are required to be IPC-compliant, you can use the IPC Compliant Footprint Wizard, or IPC Compliant Footprints Batch Generator commands.
